Game Plan Director and Shine Director Positions

Acts4Youth is a Christian Organization with a mission to nurture personal, social, and spiritual growth for at-risk youth in Baltimore City Schools through comprehensive mentoring programs. There are a variety of programs called Foundations, Game Plan to Manhood, Shine Into Womanhood and Pathways. Programs are for Baltimore City School students in grades four through high school.

The Game Plan and Shine Director is focused on supporting elementary and middle school male/female students and families. Primary responsibilities for this role focus on the spiritual development for the male/female students in middle and elementary school. The Director will coordinate and implement all activities and develop a relationship with the students and parents. Our programs consist of the following activities: Youth Group and Small Groups, 3-D Athletes and Retreats

Areas of Responsibility & Specific Duties: **

Small and large group instruction

  • Research, edit and utilize curriculum for all groups based on syllabus and logic model
  • Lead instructor for all large and small group sessions
  • Recruit guest speakers for some lessons
  • Utilize and train assistants to assist with lessons
  • Ensure methods of instruction are appropriate for age groups and connect with students various learning styles
  • Issue and collect pre and post tests and our student surveys
  • Assist with the teaching of a Foundations classes
  • Meet with students during the school day in small groups or one on one for both spiritual formation and behavioral health

Activity Coordination

  • Contact parents and families
  • Help connect parents to program events
  • Set up an end of year student celebration event
  • Conduct weekly youth groups
  • Conduct in school small group meetings with middle school students
  • Conduct one after school activity with elementary and or middle school students weekly
  • Set up once a month retreats during school year and one weekend retreat during the summer
  • Communicate with church and school partners for event coordination
  • Secure food and supplies/equipment
  • Track spending and assist with budget development
  • Ensure all students hand in registration forms and they are given to data management person
  • Organize and store supplies and equipment
  • Collect prayer requests from families and share with prayer partners
  • Help evaluate program and make suggestions for improvements
  • Develop schedules for all activities and post them

Volunteer Support

  • Assist with orientations and trainings
  • Supervise and show appreciation
  • Make sure they are being utilized in meaningful ways
  • Provide ongoing communication
  • Assist with recruiting volunteers

 Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with fundraising and or partnering activities (i.e. writing occasional newsletter, social media communications, helping to plan partner events 2 x a year, peer networking)
  • Assist with Summer Internships
  • Assist with transportation and van maintenance

**Note: The areas of responsibility and specific duties cover most tasks and activities but may change as needed by the program, students, parents and sponsors.

 Skills, Abilities and Personal Attributes:

 Excellent interpersonal, oral communication, instructional and writing skills; adeptness in organization and program planning, time management, oral and lesson presentation abilities professionalism, and literacy in basic Microsoft applications. Minimum Job Requirements:

Ability to: be active and stay with groups of students for long periods of time while maintaining a calm and encouraging demeanor, work in communities that may have high crime areas, and support our statement of belief as a Christian organization.  This position requires the candidate to have access to and utilize a fully insured personal vehicle for local travel daily.

Required Work Experience:

Two years of experience providing instruction to middle school/high school students and or directing a youth development program

Preferred Work Experience:

Two years of instructional and program directing a youth development program in an urban setting

Required Education:

College Coursework related to this position for a minimum of two years

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Job Type: Full Time

Salary and Benefits: competitive with similar organizations. Salary range starts at $44,000 with health and retirement, holidays and paid time off
